Admittedly it’s a strange title but will become apparent as you read this article.
When Gloucestershire experienced those terrible floods in July 2007 and had to endure the taunting but rather apt Rihanna song, many Gloucestershire businesses were forced to close for the week costing millions in lost revenue and disruption, but not PSU.
PSU's UK Head Office is situated in Cheltenham and was cut off by the floods making access to the Head Office treacherous and nearly impossible - only those with webbed feet made it into work. Thankfully we had already adopted our SaaS and VoIP infrastructure meaning the daily operations of the business remained relatively unaffected allowing employees to work from home continuing to support our customers. Inbound telephone calls normally answered by Head Office were re-routed through the internet to home workers and our other smaller UK offices, still enjoying the same functionality of the main phone system. Software applications continued to function and were delivered as normal through the internet to the home workers' PC’s as though they were sat in the office. It was business as usual.
Again, three years later Mother Nature has thrown more inclement weather at Gloucestershire and UK business, but we at PSU sleep well in the knowledge that our customers will still receive the same high levels of service they have become accustomed to, whatever the weather.
"PSU Technology Group are strong advocates of small office / home office working (SOHO) and to achieve this we have invested in a Voice over IP Phone System (VoIP) and the delivery of its business software applications through Cloud Computing and Software as a Service (SaaS)."
As Managing Director of PSU Technology Group I must say that our strategy of adopting VoiP and SaaS has been without doubt the best operational decision the business has ever made. We have absolute confidence in our VoIP and SaaS solutions and to expand further on a technically used phrase, we actually enjoy “Eating our own dog food”.
Let’s hope the UK thaws out quite quickly and I wish you a prosperous and warm 2010.
