On the 25th January 2007, a new exclusively business class British airline, Silverjet, took to the air aiming to revolutionise transatlantic travel by offering customers a private jet experience from London Luton Airport to New York Newark Airport. From £999 return, customers can enjoy a 30 minute check in at the airline’s private air terminal, an award winning state-of-the-art seat that converts into a 75" flat bed, a delicious choice of appetisers and mains and a personal portable in flight entertainment system featuring over 100 hours of new and silver screen movies. Learning from the success of low-cost carriers, they fly a single aircraft fleet of 767’s in a one class configuration. Although a Boeing 767 is designed to carry 300 people, Silverjet will only ever have 100 Silver Class customers on board.
Silverjet is also the first carbon neutral airline worldwide and at the end of January was awarded the prestigious Institute of Transport Management's environmentally aware airline of the year award, 2007.
